Foundation Stone

After the demarcation of the quadrilateral Cruls, there is a period of approximately thirty years without major initiatives in the change of the Capital to the interior of the country. On January 18, 1922, President Epitácio da Silva Pessoa signed Legislative Decree Number 4.494 determining the installation of the foundation stone symbolizing the transfer of the Capital to the Central Plateau.

On September 7 of the same year, at the commemoration of the centenary of the Independence, the foundation stone of the future Capital of the United States of Brazil was launched near Planaltina, an expressive framework for the realization of the aspirations of interiorization of the capital.

The changing process would still takes 40 years and was carried out by Juscelino Kubitschek.
